    May bank holiday pharmacy opening times 2018

    Details of pharmacies open in Southampton on the two May bank holiday Mondays (Monday 7 and Monday 28 May) are available on our website.

    Opening times are provided by the pharmacies, details are correct at the time of publishing but are subject to change. If you do need to visit a pharmacy over a bank holiday please call ahead to check they are open and have the medicine you need.

    If you need medical help or advice over tha bank holiday weekend and aren't sure where to go, phone 111. The service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and calls are free from landlines and mobiles.

    New local health and care partnership across Wessex could save lives

    Health and care professionals will be able to reduce unnecessary patient tests and improve safety through better working between hospitals and GPs and social care across Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight.

    New partnerships will be introduced giving health and care staff better and faster access to vital information about the person in their care, so they can determine the right action as quickly as possible, whether that is urgent tests or a referral to a specialist.

    NHS England has announced that three areas, covering 14 million people, have been chosen to become ‘Local Health and Care Record Exemplars’ (LHCRE).

  3. Local health and care heroes chosen to represent the south in NHS birthday awards

    Two local members of the group Consult and Challenge, and the Let’s Loop Southampton initiative have been chosen from hundreds of applicants to represent the South in a prestigious competition to mark the NHS’s 70th birthday.

    As regional champion in The Patient and Public Involvement Award category, they will now vie with other regional winners from across England for a national award to be presented at a special ceremony in the Palace of Westminster in July.

    We’re back on board the health roadshow bus! Join us at Guildhall Square on 22 May

    Our health roadshows are back for a second year, starting on Tuesday 22 May at Guildhall Square from 10am – 4pm.

    Join us on board the We Make Southampton bus to find out more about the services and support available in Southampton and share your experiences of health services in the city.

    The theme of our first roadshow is diabetes, stroke and cancer and will be joined by local partners from health organisations and the voluntary sector.

    Diabetes Prevention Week – 16 – 22 April

    It’s estimated that over five million people in England are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes. In Southampton, in 2017, there were 12,954 people with diabetes, of which approximately 90% have type 2*. The number of people with diabetes in the city rises every day.

    Even if you are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes, it can still be prevented through losing weight, eating healthily and being more active. Find out more about Healthier You, the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme.
