City to redesign mental health services

Local NHS and Council chiefs are urging people to have their say on plans to redesign mental health services in Southampton.

Dr Sue Robinson, Clinical Chair, NHS Southampton City Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and local GP said: “Every year one in four people in Southampton experiences a mental health problem. Add to that the fact that most of us know someone who is experiencing or has experienced mental health problems and we start to see how crucial it is for the city to have excellent mental health services.”

Southampton City CCG has therefore launched a public consultation, called Mental Health Matters, in conjunction with Southampton City Council and Health and Wellbeing Board. It sets out plans for the future of services aimed at supporting people and their families who are affected by this common health issue.
