NHS in Southampton launches consultation on proposal to close the walk-in service in Bitterne

City health leaders want to hear your views on proposals to close the walk-in service at Bitterne Health Centre in Southampton, and have launched a twelve-week public consultation beginning on 15 June 2015.

NHS Southampton City Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the NHS organisation that plans and pays for health services for Southampton residents, has been looking at care provided in the community to ensure we have got the balance of services right. What has become clear is that we need to prioritise developing and maintaining health services for the growing number of people living with long term conditions such as heart disease, breathing difficulties and diabetes.

Carers Week 8 – 14 June 2015

Carers Week runs from Monday 8 – Sunday 14 June. It is a national campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities.

3 in 5 of us will be carers in our lifetime. As our population ages and people live longer, often with complex health conditions, more and more of us will be called upon to care for an older, disabled or seriously ill loved one.

This year the focus of Carers Week is on building Carer Friendly Communities which support carers to look after their loved ones well, while recognising that they are individuals with needs of their own.
