Southampton Safeguarding Week

Southampton Safeguarding Week 6 – 10 June 2016

Services in Southampton are working together to keep children and adults safe through a series of roadshows during Southampton Safeguarding Week, which takes place from 6 – 10 June 2016.

The events are an opportunity for residents to find out about how to notice risks or concerns and the steps they can take to help reduce the risks to their own families and others around them. Information packs and healthy snacks will also be given out at the locations across the city, backed up by tweets throughout the week carrying safety messages with the hashtag #sotonsafeweek.

Carers Week 6 – 12 June 2016

Did you know, Southampton has an estimated 36,000 carers?

6 – 12 June is Carers Week and the local NHS and Southampton City Council are working alongside Carers in Southampton, Southampton Voluntary Services (SVS) Young Carers Project and the charity MIND to acknowledge the incredible commitment that carers of all ages make to the people they look after.

Often, carers do not realise they are a carer, they’re simply doing what needs to be done to help their family member or friend. Helping people to identify that they’re acting as an unpaid carer often encourages them to then access support services that are available.
